The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
