The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and shade extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
