The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
