A large group from the earlier generations. 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor good. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then verily ye, O ye erring, denying people. 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 Such shall be your hospitality on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Send it down ye from the raincloud, or are We the Sender down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 74
