Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a Garden on high, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 nor any food save the filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
