The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
