Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In an elevated garden, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 nor any food save the filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
