The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And pollution shun. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
