I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning unto humankind 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 who will be in Paradise 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until death approached us". 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
