Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one any magician?” 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
