The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
