The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
