The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
