The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
