The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
