The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
