He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
