He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
