The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
