The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
