The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 upon couches gazing; 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
