Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in an exalted garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
