The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
