The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
