The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
