The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
