The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
