The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
