The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
