The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
