Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
