The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 in which you are now living 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
