And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
