S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a wondrous thing' 5 Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
