The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
