Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
