The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
