The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
