The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
