This is the reasoning We gave to Abraham against his people, We raise in rank anyone We please, your Lord is wise and aware. 83 We gave (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob. Both had received Our guidance. Noah received Our guidance before Abraham and so did his descendants: David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. Thus is the reward for the righteous people. 84 And also Zakariyya and Yahya and Isa and llyas: each one was of the righteous. 85 And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot. Each one (of them) did We prefer above (Our) creatures, 86 With some of their forefathers and their offspring and their brethren; and We chose them and guided them unto a straight path. 87 This is the guidance of Allah whereby He guideth whomsoever of His bondmen He listeth. And if they had associated, to naught would have come all that they were wont to work. 88 Those were the people to whom We gave the Book and the Law and the Prophethood. But if they reject these things We shall entrust them to a people who will not deny. 89 Those were the (prophets) who received Allah's guidance: Copy the guidance they received; Say: "No reward for this do I ask of you: This is no less than a message for the nations." 90
