Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
