The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
