And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 and [how] We make gardens of date-palms and vines [grow] thereon, and cause springs to gush [forth] within it, 34 That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not! 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 And We have appointed positions for the moon till it returns like an old branch of the date palm. 39 Neither is it allowable to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; and all float on in a sphere. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 If it were Our Will, We could drown them: then would there be no helper (to hear their cry), nor could they be delivered, 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 And when it is said to them, “Beware of what is before you and what is behind you, in the hope of your gaining mercy”, they turn away! 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 Then they would not be able to make a will, or go back to their people. 50
