The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
