So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Say, "Wait, I too am waiting with you". 31 Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say: "He (Muhammad SAW) has forged it (this Quran)?" Nay! They believe not! 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Quran) if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators? 35 Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt? 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 And wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, for surely you are before Our eyes, and sing the praise of your Lord when you rise; 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
