The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
