The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man, 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
