The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
