The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 on raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
