Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 and perhaps, too, our forebears of old?" 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 crying, "We have been left to suffer loss. 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
